My PCOS Healing Journey
A Physical & Spiritual Guide To Balance Your Hormones and Heal Your Womb
Dear reader, sister, and fellow womban
I can’t believe that after so many years, I can finally type these words.
It feels like a dream come true, not only to have come this far, but to be able to share these tools and information with others.
My highest intention is for you to find hope and inspiration for your own healing journey.
So let’s begin…
What is PCOS?
PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is a hormonal condition that affects women from all over the world.
It can cause:
Hormonal imbalances, irregular menstrual cycles, excess androgen levels, weight gain, mood disorders, painful cramps, acne, face swelling, abnormal hair growth, and cysts in the ovaries.
Moreover, it comes with a lack of ovulation, which makes it the leading cause of infertility in women.
According to most doctors, the cause is unknown, but keep reading this article so you can truly understand the spiritual and physical causes of this condition, and most importantly, learn how you can reverse it naturally.
My Story
It wasn’t until 2021, after being 3 years off of birth control, that my symptoms resurfaced.
Overnight, I found myself putting on an extra 20 pounds, feeling extremely tired and sad all the time, having 50-60 day long cycles, debilitating menstrual pains, and a puffy, swollen face.
Not understanding where these symptoms came from, I felt broken.
Ashamed of the changes in my body, my mental health was spiraling downward, and I gave up on many of my life’s dreams because I could barely get out of bed each day.
It took a year of going through a rabbit hole of online research, spending thousands of dollars on a naturopathic doctor, and doing multiple hormonal and blood tests, to finally get an ultrasound and find out that there were cysts in my ovaries.
Heartbroken is how I felt, knowing that this can cause infertility in the long-term.
What was most frustrating is that my OBGYN had no answers about the root cause of this disorder, the only “solution” was to take birth control pills, go on a hormonal treatment and lose weight.
Now, three years later, through hundreds of trials & errors, I can gratefully say that I am on the journey to healing.
Back in my normal healthy weight, I am energized and clear minded, my cycles are *finally* 28 days long, and I feel connected to the wisdom of my womb in ways I never did before.
First I’ll tell you what didn’t work…
OBGYN’s - they helped with the initial diagnosis, but their solutions always consisted of masking the root cause by prescribing birth control, progesterone pills, and mood balancing anti-depressants.
MIRACLE SUPPLEMENTS - I tried so many health supplements, including Ovasitol, which is well known in the PCOS world, but none of these products created the miracle results I was desperate for.
INTENSE WORKOUTS - Feeling so uncomfortable in my body, I worked out even harder to lose the extra weight. I was doing HIIT cardio, running, and following intense weight lifting workouts regularly, just to end up exhausted and depleted after.
CUTTING OUT DAIRY AND GLUTEN - Let me be clear, cutting these out for controlled periods of time was extremely successful for my healing journey. With that being said, “all-or-nothing” mentality can lead to an unhealthy relationship with food, more on this later.
Spiritual Causes of PCOS
From years of research and intimate conversations with dear sisters, I found repeated patterns among those who have experienced hormonal imbalances:
Childhood abuse / trauma
Lack of self trust
Blocked creative channels
Holding back from life
Chronic stress “survival mode”
Excess masculine energy
Trouble feeling and expressing our emotions
Issues with self-love and self-acceptance
Energetically, our womb is our center of creativity, feminine energy, intuition, and our ability to give life.
PCOS represents a stagnation in a woman’s natural fertility cycles - How this manifests in our bodies is that the egg is not fully maturing, therefore not being released from the ovaries as it should each month, and becoming a cyst instead.
Usually, when we look at lab results from PCOS cases, we see:
Heightened testosterone levels (masculine hormone)
Insulin resistance (which can be considered a longing, craving for sweetness that we never received)
Excess cortisol (living in survival mode, chronic stress)
Genetics (ancestral residue that we are carrying)
This made it clear that PCOS is deeply intertwined with our emotional, mental and spiritual health as women.
We’ve rejected our feminine nature for the sake of “survival”.
We’ve experienced traumas that violated our boundaries and left us feeling hurt, unworthy of love and isolated.
We’ve ignored our intuition, losing our connection to our inner compass (the womb), overriding our own boundaries, and feeling disconnected from the Earth.
PCOS IS A TEACHER, HERE GUIDING US TO RECLAIM OUR FEMININE ENERGY, GAIN SOVEREIGNTY OVER OUR BODIES AND HEAL GENERATIONS OF ANCESTRAL TRAUMA.
Healing begins the moment we accept the wound as a blessing.

So back to healing… where do we start?
Each of our bodies is different, and it’s a combination of spiritual and physical changes that lead to results over time. If there is one thing PCOS has taught me is patience.
Detoxifying the Liver
Something I wish I would’ve know sooner is that the liver plays such a big role in hormone metabolism, blood sugar balance & detoxification.
To balance our hormonal health we must look at the liver first.
For me, that looked like doing a two 21-day liver cleanses per year, which consist of a strict whole-foods diet over a limited period of time to flush the liver and kickstart the metabolism.
The cleanses taught me to become mindful of my overall diet, prioritizing whole foods, limiting processed sugars and practicing the 80/20 rule. I still love cheese, sourdough bread, and chocolate and eat them on a regular basis.
Healing my relationship with food by removing restrictions and igniting my intuition, has helped me awaken the natural healing wisdom within my body.
This has led to fantastic results in my body and overall health.
2. Working with Plant Allies
Plants have been used for thousands of years to heal the physical ailments of our ancestors, way before western medicines were invented.
My allies in this journey have been:
Vitex Berry Tincture - womb tonic great hormonal balance and regular cycles, I recommend taking every day for the first couple months until you see results
Raspberry Leaf Tea - strengthens the womb and it’s a great ally for menstrual cramps
Yoni Steam Blends - I recommend yoni steaming once per month to deepen the relationship with your womb
Cacao - great replacement for coffee, super nutritious and helps with uplifting mood + energy
Rose Petal Tea - supports with cramps
Ashwagandha - for soothing nervous system, improving sleep and lowering cortisol levels
Dandelion Root - for detoxifying the liver
Triphala - Ayurvedic blend for digestion and cleansing the liver
Nettle tea - supports a depleted body, recommended during follicular phase, after menstruation
3. Embracing Creativity & Self-Trust
As mentioned earlier, PCOS represents a stagnation in a woman’s natural cycles of creation.
Honoring creativity by trusting our inner guidance and giving birth to new creative ideas is a big part of our physical and spiritual healing.
Recommended rituals:
Starting a daily journaling practice
Making a painting that honors your feminine side
Signing up for a course you’re interested in
Planning a solo trip
Listening to your intuition before asking advice from others
Hiking & connecting with nature
4. Gentle Movement & Rest
Intense workouts were leading to burnout and a lack of results.
The excess cortisol (stress hormone) I was putting on wasn’t creating a suitable environment for my body to heal.
Long nature walks, dancing and gentle yoga flows became the sweet spot for me.
Incorporating gentle exercise that awakens our feminine energy nurtures our nervous system and helps balance our hormones.
The Bare Female and Yoga with Kassandra offer beautiful free online classes.
5. Celibacy + Conscious Intimacy
Something that needs to be talked about more often is the relationship to our sexuality.
Most of my life I repeated the same patterns with men, not listening to the voice of my womb and entering sexual interactions before I was ready.
I went celibate for over a year, so I could come back to my own energy, tend to my heart and learn my needs.
As women, we must understand the importance of what energy we allow into our most sacred space.
Only entering intimacy with partners that our wombs feels safe with, where open communication, boundaries and transparency are a non-negotiable.
Sex is a portal, and with the right partner and prayers, we can profoundly heal the wounds deeply seated in our wombs.
6. Cycle Charting
Women are cyclical mirrors of nature. Our hormones are constantly fluctuating, as well as our mood and energy.
Making a habit out of tracking our cycles helps us become familiar with our body’s changes and fluctuations.
From what we eat, to how we exercise, to what we focus on in our personal and professional projects, our bodies are constantly communicating with us.
Invitation:
Start a moon journal, where you keep track of every day of your cycle. Taking note of the date, your mood, symptoms and discharge.
I believe every woman should have access to this information, taking our health and bodies back into our hands is how we reclaim our sovereignty 🌹 Feel free to share this information with any sister who might benefit from it.
Start with what resonates and trust your body is leading you back towards optimal health. You got this!
